Our Second Amendment shall not be taken away or infringed with from us as citizens of the U.S this is our own right and part of the Bill of Rights. This right has brought a lot of confusion to the world and how it should be used. We as citizens need to stop pointing the guns at each other and put them down for once take control. Now, we blame our own Amendment for the mistakes we create as people it was never the gun itself it is the person and heart behind the gun. Why take the right from everyone when it’s not everyone’s fault for what goes on and is still going on to this day? Our Second Amendment should stay not be taken this is protection for us citizens it’s just used wrongly.
According to the official site of USA Today they have said that almost 30% Americans own guns to this day that is actual very low for people who live in America. Also, 357 million guns are in the country and that’s just an estimated amount we have all these weapons for a reason to protect. Gun violence can be used incorrectly but the purpose to have this right is to originally protect us from the war going on. “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed” The framers of the Bill of Rights. This just means that back then we had this right to help protect us during the Revolutionary war. We didn’t have the government full help or security, so we had to protect ourselves on our own. This right was created on Dec 15,1791 and these guns we our able to keep on us or in our homes are not the real weapon, and that’s why people have gotten confused with reality. I know it is not right for this right to be used wrongly but sometimes to have good you must balance it with bad. There have been to many school shootings and to many deaths in our own areas. Think about this though how many of those killings were done because of the fact it was the guns fault and not the upset human being behind it. I believe if we are taken away this right, we our taken the right of way from someone who might need that gun to protect family. You cannot take away a right the Constitution had created no laws can be destroyed only created. There are reasons why these laws were created and made a long time ago.
I have had a personal experience with this situation here at Des Moines public school East High had a protest not too long ago over whether we should have the Second Amendment. Here at East High in I believe it was second block we could leave the class to march to the capital. Before anyone marched to the capital, we had people give speeches about why they felt this was right thing to do. I sat from my classroom above them watching over they were fighting to get rid of protection. They gave very good speeches, but I felt as though they were wrong. How can you fight against the Bill of Rights? After their speeches the protest began to happen schools from all around Des Moines public schools walked to the capital or eve drove. Now, what happened there had blew me away they went peacefully and broke out in violence there were kids getting hurt an even someone had gotten hit by a car. Peaceful protest about violence should not go down in violence like I said it is never the gun itself. The people mindset behind the gun their anger is what makes our Amendment look bad when it is not actually that bad. What we should do is not sell guns to people with already bad backgrounds. If you want to buy a gun there should be restrictions and background checks just so you can see if that person already had a bad influence in doing bad things and using weapons. This way we have no more shootings and drive by or any type of killing

East High School is known for there fun activities and so much more worrying about whether a school mascot is insensitive or not should not be a problem. The imagery of Native American as our mascot in my eyes is a problem. Some people things more offensively then others so we should respect them. Just as they would want the respect from us and our backgrounds. This can be fixed though where both sides gets the best of both worlds. East High could have a mascot to represent our games and activities but what we could do is change the mascot. We can’t change history but we can make a better future for others and ourselves.
How do we make this plan go in progress ? well first we are going to want to come up with ides for a school mascot that can not be so harmful to others. Also, we want to keep the East High logo with it some idea already have been came up by the scarlet ambassadors. They have came up with ideas like a scarlet knight or a viking we can keep the big E but also make it to where we are not offending nobody. I personally like the knight the most its a fun and exiting mascot idea for East High. It is also a mascot no Native american can get really mad over it. People are always going to disagree on a topic but we as a community need to make it as comfortable to people as possible.
I know that East High would love to make it where like every other Des Moines public schools we have a mascot representing us and our well known school. We are the oldest and largest school in the state how is it were the only one without a mascot. What we should do is start a program informing everyone why our newer mascot the knight or viking would be good use. We would be able to keep our E just change it a little around to fit other people’s perspective we all have opinions and they all need to be respected. Let’s as a community fix this situation and come back together as one.

The First Amendments are very important to not only the people but to the journalist or students writing about them. This is because when we write about any of these Amendments we can have the freedom to do so. I have wrote about the Amendments one of them was the Freedom of Speech. Freedom of Speech gives people the chance an me the chance to speak about how i feel about. A certain topic but also to speak about it with not getting in so much trouble for it. As a student of East High School I feel it is important for students to be able to use there First Amendments to write stories. When students are able to write about things they want they feel good about the Amendments and the people who created them have helped with that. We should be able to speak out in a peaceful manner and get our option ins about things out there. At times when students write others can relate or feel like they know something about the topic. We use our First Amendments everyday here and were able to do it to are own strengths. A lot of other countries cant use there First Amendments like we can they can more limits then we do. I have did walk outs i have protest against some of them actually like the one not awhile ago. The protest was about school shooting an to get rid of one of the Second Amendment. The Second Amendment was the right the bare arms and i didn’t feel right about it so i protested it. That was my right to do that and i was able to do it in a peaceful manner this was because of the First Amendment.
